Reflecting on Pride Month: The Imperative of Ensuring LGBTQ+ Safety

As Pride Month has ended, it is essential to reflect on the significance of this annual celebration and continue our commitment to supporting and protecting the LGBTQ+ community. While we rejoice in the progress made, it is crucial to acknowledge that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights is far from over. This past month I, personally, have reflected on the importance of maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all individuals, irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Yes, there are jurisdictions with progressive laws, yet many LGBTQ+ individuals face discrimination, violence, and marginalization. As a member of a community defined by race, also subjected to discrimination, violence and marginalization, it is my duty to stand in solidarity and work towards a world where everyone feels safe and supported.

What does this have to do with a company that sells T-shirts? T-shirts and sweatshirts are a dime a dozen. Well, it brings me back to the mission of What's My Name T's, which is of amplifying our voices. In basic terms, by amplifying your voice, you are leveraging the strengths of educating and messaging together. What's My Name T's designs serves to enhance the impact of educational initiatives, advocacy campaigns, and various forms of communication aimed at promoting knowledge, understanding, and positive change.

So Pride Month 2023  may be in the rear-view mirror, but let us remember that the fight for LGBTQ+ rights has not ended with the month-long celebration. It is a continuous journey that requires our collective effort, commitment, and vigilance. By prioritizing education, advocating for inclusive policies, and creating safe spaces, we can contribute to a world where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can live their lives authentically and without fear.

Together, let us march forward towards a future where love, acceptance, and equality prevail. So stay tuned. New designs with the message of inclusion are on the horizon. I'm turning up the volume a notch. Next post, I'll be asking....can you hear me know?
